About me

I am a PhD student at the Philosophy Department, the division of Cognitive Science, and a part of the Agenda 2030 Graduate School at Lund University. From my previous studies I have received a double BA in Theoretical and Practical Philosophy from Uppsala University and a MA in Cognitive Science from Lund University.

About my research project

My research focus is on judgement and decision making and I am interested in how emotions affect decision situations. At the moment I am particularly interested in compassion and empathy and how regulation of the two affects pro-social and helping behavior.

Within the research program, I hope to contribute to our understanding on what motivates people to help others in need and how we motivate people to take action when facing others in need. For example, how is our willingness to empathize affected by facing a large scale human catastrophe, and how does this affect the decisions we make? This ambition naturally relates to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No poverty (SDG 1), Zero hunger (SDG 2), Gender equality (SDG 5) and Reduced inequalities (SDG10). Hopefully it can also be relevant for achieving other parts of the agenda and inform stakeholders on different levels.
